One day – 2 friends – more than 3 ideas in Dubai

What could be better than spending a whole day with a friend in the vibrant city of Dubai? The need – from early in the morning until late at night – to chat about everything as a couple and to see and experience as much as possible at the same time probably doesn’t need any special motivation boost. But be careful:

Even those who know their way around Dubai are well advised to carefully select the overwhelming number of options in advance. In our blog, we offer a variation of how such an extended “walk” could take place. It was definitely a perfect day for both of us in every respect and who knows, maybe this will inspire you.

Prelude: Perfect relaxation while strolling along the JBR with a visit to the “BlaBla” café

A cab takes us to the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), a very lively place in Dubai. Along the 1.7 kilometer long, car-free stretch, we encounter numerous restaurants, a continuous public beach, countless boutiques and various attractions such as the Flying Cup or the Aqua Fun Park. However, two friends like us don’t feel like going to action-packed parks on our one-day outing. Rather, we are tempted by an even greater pleasure for the eye 🙂

In the early hours of the morning, we encounter many families with children building sandcastles on the beach or sports enthusiasts keeping fit on the “JBR Walk”. The (still) quiet atmosphere is particularly pleasant, as the beach section is relatively empty. From our point of view, this emotional start proves to be the ideal start to a long day.

Incidentally, in the evening this section is transformed into a vibrant public venue. For some, it’s also a showcase, a way of showing off what they’ve got. Luxurious sports cars pose next to huge SUVs and jam along the one-way street. After an hour and a half and hundreds of photos on our cell phones, we return to the starting point. Now we deserve a longer coffee break. As we deliberately want to spend our girlfriends’ day without children, we can visit the dignified “BlaBla” beach club without any ifs or buts.

Children are allowed in the restaurant, but in the rest of the beach club and in the many integrated bars, children are not only unwelcome, they are not allowed. This has advantages and disadvantages, but from my point of view, from a mother’s point of view, there may well be special locations that are child-free.

As much as the beautiful ambience invites you to relax, we decided to just stop for a coffee. The reason: our colorful program wants to take my girlfriend to the Zero Gravity Beach Club. In contrast to the “BlaBla”, there is a private stretch of beach here. As we have walked extensively beforehand, we let the cab take the lead and forgo the 45-minute walk.

In view of the many beach clubs, restaurants and other trendy locations, the question arises: why is the Zero Gravity Beach Club the preferred choice?

• Ideal location with an impressive view of JBR and Bluewater Island.
• A pool with a glass wall – the perfect spot for Instagram photos.
• DJ with live performance that varies depending on the party and set-up.
• We enjoy DJ music accompanied by a violin player.
• Freshwater pool and private beach access,
• Day Pool Pass with drinks (women 50 euros / men 70).
• Very clean toilets and showers.
• Fair prices for the food / for example 20 euros for a burger.

This seems critical to us:

• Expensive prices for wine and alcohol – for example, a glass of wine 18 euros.
• It’s not just people who are newly in love who can’t get their heads around it: Kissing or even just hugging each other is completely forbidden.
• As in many beach clubs, the staff sometimes leave a rather arrogant impression, especially at the entrance.
• The beach club is almost impossible to reach by public transport. However, given the low cab prices, this is not a problem.
• For our taste, the mix of styles in the furnishings has no style. In one corner there are colorful chairs like in Mexico. The sun loungers by the pool are white like in Ibiza. The sunbeds on the beach are without any style.

After a few hours in the beach club, it’s time to go shopping. We grab a cab and drive to the Dubai Mall.

The ticking of the hour hand tells us that there is not much time left for shopping, as we are already in the late afternoon. Next time we will probably have to plan a separate day for the Dubai Mall, because the size and the many beautiful corners are stunning. You can find lots of interesting facts in our blog post “Dubai Mall“. Despite the time pressure, we find two or three beautiful dresses in the Maje store.

A visit to a furniture store is not necessarily typical of a day out for two friends. But some new accessories for our bookshelf are on my to-do list, so we end up in an Eichholz store. In addition to a wide range of accessories, it has a lot of furniture with the trademark extra class. We get inspiration and advice, but ultimately decide not to buy.

After all, our husbands should be surprised with sweets. As they have a particular fondness for desserts, we visit a Turkish store(Hafiz Mustafa) and buy plenty of pastries. On the way to the parking lot, we discover a sports store by chance. Because the last wash cycle shredded my favorite pants – the washing machines here are of poor quality / or did I set the speed too high? – I am unexpectedly rewarded once again.

I find a new favorite pair of pants in the Puma store. This means that nothing stands in the way of regular visits to the gym. Agreed – it sounds like a lame excuse, and it is! 🙂

Now we really have to hurry, because from a distance the clock strikes six times and it’s already 6 pm. We have a slightly “crazy” plan for the rest of the evening. We’re home in no time to get dressed up. And already – at 8 p.m. – we are on our way to the desert.

Dancing under the stars – Terra Solis the club in the desert

When we arrive at our destination, we feel like we’ve been transported into a dream – in the middle of the desert, surrounded by oriental-style mud houses. After a quick security check, we stand on the terrace of “Terra Solis”, look down on the square and let the people dancing to the beats get us in the mood.

The fantastic scenery is breathtaking. Around the pool, which is also used as a day pool during the day, there are comfortable loungers, beds and sofas. In the middle is an attractive bar, decorated with large leaves and well thought-out details. The architect makes his passion for aesthetic subtleties tangible. In the evening, the “Terra Solis complex” becomes a pulsating dance temple with various DJs.

The “Agents of Time” will be playing at the opening party on this day (November 4). We actually want to hit the dance floor straight away, but our stomachs veto the idea. The choice of meals is limited. As the food becomes a minor matter here, this can be put into perspective. We order quesadillas for 15 euros. The prices are fair, but the portions are relatively small. A glass of rosé is too expensive for us (18 euros / 1.5 dl). In comparison, drinks such as gin and tonic or vodka Redbull are rather inexpensive (15 euros per drink).

Finally, we are on the dance floor and dance for five hours under the bright starry sky, accompanied by an impressive laser show in front of the DJ booth, on which a giant eagle is enthroned. The desire to simply let go, to let your thoughts run free, to breathe in the air and the scent deeply, cannot be put into words.

A driver doesn’t bring us home safely until one o’clock in the morning. There is only one plan left – off to bed. In the middle of immersing ourselves in the 1001 experiences of an exciting day, our eyes fall shut.

There should be more days like this when we can escape the daily grind without a guilty conscience and simply do what we want.
