Are these the outstanding sights in Dubai? Is it really worth visiting these attractions? We visited them all to weigh up the pros and cons. In particular, we try to protect you from negative experiences.

In the 1st part of our blog we visit Burj Khalifa , Burj al Arab , Dubai Mall , Miracle Garden , Dubai Fountain and Ski Dubai

Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa is a skyscraper and is considered the tallest building in the world. It was officially opened on January 4, 2010 and is an impressive architectural masterpiece. With a height of 828 meters, the Burj Khalifa has 163 floors and offers a breathtaking view of the city of Dubai and the surrounding area.

The high-rise building consists of offices and apartments, houses a luxury hotel (Armani Hotel) and viewing platforms for tourists. Visitors are taken to the top in high-speed elevators for a spectacular panoramic view. The Burj Khalifa is more than just an architectural symbol of modern Dubai, it is also a popular tourist destination and an impressive example of innovative engineering.

Our assessment and recommendation: We recommend visiting the Burj Khalifa to enjoy the unique view of the city of Dubai. To avoid long queues, it is highly recommended to buy tickets (from 45 euros) in advance. Apart from that, tickets are often sold out. From our point of view, the best time to visit Dubai is between 5 and 6 pm to get a bird’s eye view of the city both in daylight and at dusk. Both the very special backdrop and the sea of lights are breathtaking.

Burj al Arab

Burj al Arab in Dubai is one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. It was opened in 1999 and is famous for its iconic sail shape. Burj al Arab is located on an artificial island that is connected to the mainland by a bridge.

The hotel is a Dubai landmark and has been awarded seven stars, although only travel journalists award such high distinctions.

The architecture of the Burj al Arab, combined with its exquisite service and luxurious amenities, make it a symbol of elegance, luxury and sophistication in the hotel industry.

The Burj al Arab not only serves as an exclusive place to stay, but is also a popular destination for tourists who book tours combined with a luxurious gold tea ceremony at the hotel.

Our assessment and recommendation: The guided tour, coupled with gastronomic offerings, are relatively expensive, but justify the price of around 100 euros per person for such a unique experience. However, even just a view of the Burj al Arab from the outside is impressive. A free alternative is a trip to Umm Suqueim Beach, for example, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Burj al Arab.

Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall is one of the largest shopping centers in the world. We reported in detail about the Dubai Mall in another blog.

Our assessment and recommendation: Apart from the fact that a visit to the Dubai Mall can be combined with a tour of the Burj Khalifa, there are numerous attractions here – both free of charge and for a small fee. We therefore give the Dubai Mall a definite thumbs up.

Miracle Garden

The Miracle Garden (from 25 euros) is an impressive flower garden in Dubai. The world’s largest vertical flower garden is famous for its diverse and colorful flower arrangements. It is located in the Dubai Land district and is a seasonal attraction that is only open from mid-November to mid-April, as temperatures are pleasant during the winter months.

The Miracle Garden covers an area of around 72,000 square meters and presents an impressive variety of flowers and plants in different shapes and colors. The flowerbeds are artistically designed to imitate pictures, sculptures and even entire buildings. The huge range of flowers extends from petunias and geraniums to radiant sunflowers.

Our assessment and recommendation: For lovers of flowers and nature, a visit to the garden is a must. It extends over a large area, so we recommend that parents with small children bring a baby carriage or similar. Headgear is also an advantage.

Our assessment and recommendation: Highly recommended. The shows are particularly impressive in the evening.

Ski Dubai

Ski Dubai is an indoor ski facility and part of the “Mall of the Emirates” shopping center. It is one of the most special attractions in Dubai, as it allows year-round skiing in the middle of the desert. Some features of Ski Dubai:

1st **Artificial snow park:** Ski Dubai has a huge hall with artificial snow. The systems are in operation all year round. The temperatures in the hall are kept constantly low to provide the ideal environment for snow sports activities.

2 **Skiing and snowboarding:** The resort offers slopes with different levels of difficulty for skiers and snowboarders and is therefore suitable for beginners as well as experienced athletes. There are also ski instructors who offer lessons.

3 **Snow Park:** In addition to the ski slopes, there is a snow park for visitors of all ages, where a variety of winter activities can be found.

4th **Penguin Encounter:** The Penguin Encounter is a special attraction. This temperature-controlled facility has flightless, charismatic gentoo and king penguins that visitors not only admire, but also enjoy interactive experiences with.

Our assessment and recommendation: Not only those who know snow-covered mountains have a critical view of the ski hall. For us, skiing indoors is not what we consider to be an authentic winter experience. Our preference is therefore for the natural snowy landscapes of our homeland. On the other hand, many enjoy their first contact with snow. This is where the pros and cons come together.

For those who want to experience snow without traveling to the cold, Ski Dubai can be an alternative. It offers an artificial snow landscape and the opportunity to experience winter activities in an unusual setting.
